Sept 4, 2006 Beaumont and Eureka
Kayln and I decided to fly over to the famous Beaumont hotel, and then head over to Eureka for a top-off, before heading back to Cook Field. Take-Off time scheduled for 0800.
Leg 1:     36  Miles
Leg 2:   18.4 Miles
Leg 3:    51.4 Miles
The weather turned out to be perfect! I combined the maps so you can see the route we took. I know... This does not appear to be all THAT far, but my definition of an "Adventure," is anything greater then 50 miles from my home base.
Take-Off time ended up being around 0805.  Kayln flew over from a different field, and I took off a little too soon. Here he is playing "catch-up" off my left wing.
Able to play around a bit in the nice smooth morning air.  Taking a picture looking aft.  You can see my fuel can strapped down to the back seat.
Kayln caught-up with me. His clip wing Challenger II is a little faster than mine, and a lot lighter!

I think the town in the back ground is Augusta.
Most areas that I fly, in Kansas, are totally flat. This slight change of scenery, is kind of nice. Getting closer to the  wind generators.
We are getting closer to Beaumont now.  With the sun in our eyes, it makes it a little difficult to see too far in front of us.
Left of pic is South, and Right side of pic is North.

We landed to the North. Here, I am on my downwind leg.

You can see a small road on the South end of the runway, it goes in-between a row of trees. This is where you taxi too. The Beaumont Hotel is just past the Stop sign :) I was not sure if the stop sign applied to me or not, but I stopped!

There is parking across the street from the Hotel, in the grass, for airplanes.
Turning Right base to final. You think I should probably start concentrating on landing?
Kayln is on the ground already, it is hard to see him, but he is just Left of the wind sock.

He told me when I turned final to land light, as this fied is not the smoothest.

He was right! I figured that this field would be really nice considering how popular it is, and that they have a Fly-In breakfast almost every Saturday.
Here we are, made it to our first stop.

We were the only planes there this Monday morning...
These people were in town visiting relatives. They thought it was really cool how we just flew in and parked our planes.

The Dad of the group explained to his wife how bad he needed a plane like ours... she did NOT agree! After posing in front of the planes, he offered us both a Coke.
We looked around a bit, finished our Cokes and took off again.  This sign was just off the road, leading to the  grass runway.

Off to Eureka!
After we took off, we got back in formation and did a fly-over over the Hotel just for fun.

Boy, it is getting hilly now!
Eureka, KS... their airport anyway!
Made it on the ground.
Went in and talked to the mechanics for a brief time, fueled up, then went for a bathroom break.

Off we went again for the long stretch home.
The ride home got a little bumpy. I slowed-her-down and took my time home.

This shot was taken as I just went past it. Looks like an Oklahoma Univeristy sign.

Maybe he forgot he lives in Kansas?
Kayln had lots of patience with my slow flight on the way home, but the last few miles he put the coals to it!

We both landed at Cook Field withtout incident.

Does not get much better than this!
