WICHITA FLIGHT FESTIVAL
WICHITA, KANSAS
AUGUST 2006
I was really excited about this trip. This would be my first airshow where my plane would be on statice display. The morning of the flight was on a Friday. I headed to the airport early, as this would allow me a head start before the bumpy air, and strong winds came through.
Well, once at the airport I had a decsion to make. The ground was still wet from the storm that just passed. It was too dark outside at the time to tell if more weather was on it's way. Since it was still dark, I had to wait for light anyway. I looked over the plane again  to make sure everything was just right. After pre-flighting again, more time had passed, and  official sunrise was now here, but I was still in doubt. Now, the winds had already picked up and there were clouds in the area that looked questionable wff1, wff2. I  have a radar on my cell phone, and it did not appear that anymore storms were in the immediate area. They were moving off to the East, so I decided to go for it! Once in the air, I was able to get some pics of the tail end of the clouds wff3.
Time I got to Jabara, the sun was now peeking over the clouds and shinnind down on the airport. It was a beautiful site wff4. Here I am taxing up to park wff5, you can see them setting up the tents, getting ready for the big weekend ahead.
                                                                         ENJOY THE PICTURES!!
There was rain and storms every evening. This scared a lot of our static diplay airplanes off. The three of us in the first pic all got hangers, every evening... It pays to know the right people! Thanks Paul !! In case you do not know, my plane is in the 2nd pic.
2nd pic is a sailplane over head. It was just realeased from the tow plane at mid-field. Made a perfect landing. Flying one of these planes is definitely on my to-do-list!
