Got it home sitting on the workbench ready for surgery.
I place my CHT rings under the cylinder head bolts.
My other helper... Dad
With this method, you only need to take one circlip out. Wrist pin removal is easy using this method. L small socket, R is larger socket. Clamp used for squeezing out wrist pin.
Seems like a lot of carbon build up to me.
Others say this is average. Probably just depends on who you ask.
My engine sits inverted on my Challenger, so the underside of pistons also have carbon build-up. I placed in kerosene over night.
Cylinder heads. I used a sharpend wooden dowel and a old credit card for my carbon removal. Oh yeah, did I mention I also used A LOT of elbow grease!
Wrist Pin.. Looks good
32 free floating pins! makes you want to scream.. trust me.
Trick I used from J. Lartin's website. Worked like a charm! I did place the wrist pin in the freezer, along with heating up the piston to make them fit during reassembly.
The all dreaded Circlip.. Very difficult to place back on if you have never done it before! It is doable thougth.
Putting it back togther.. pretty easy at this point.
