First thing to note is the orientation of the bolts on the Root Wing Rib Attach Bracket. Pay attention to this. We are now ready to install some of the flush rivets. We will first begin with the two screws that need to be flush. These are marked with an "S" next to the holes.

First we set the screws in the holes, preparing to make the dimple in the Top Web skin. Remember, we already countersunk all the holes in the thicker aluminum below.

We just gave the screw a little tap tap.

And there it is, a flush screw. These worked out great! Next, we will try our luck flushing some rivets.

Placed an AN 426 flushed head rivet in the hole.

Used the Back-Riveting set and gave the rivet head a very quick "hit" with the gun. At this point, there is not a bucking bar on the opposite side. Our only purpose at this point is to make a dimple in the Top Web skin.

This picture does not do it justice, but it is now nicely dimpled. You can see the ones I already set in the upper Left hand corner of the pic.

The dimple.

The flush riveting we got done tonight. This process took a little while. We had to use the Bolt and Hammer method to set the rivets because of clearence issues with the gun. We also had to drill out 6 rivets and replace them (misplaced the bucking bar).

We did finish riveting all the outboard rivets with the protruding heads. This inboard section is all we have left to rivet on the Right Spar. If everything goes well (not needing to drill out any more rivets) we should be able to finish riveting next time.
